Lava Stone Bracelet: Natural Volcanic Stone for Grounding & Calm
Lava Stone: the Grounding Stone. Formed from cooled volcanic basalt, lava stone is worn for steadiness and calm, and its porous surface doubles as a natural diffuser for essential oils.
What lava stone is
Lava stone is basalt, molten rock that cooled rapidly at the surface. Gas escaping during that cooling leaves the tiny cavities that give the beads their matte, pitted texture and unusually light weight. Because it comes directly from the earth's own heat, it is traditionally treated as a stone of transformation and resilience, and is linked to the root chakra.
What it is traditionally worn for
- Grounding: its primary association, worn to stay steady during change
- Calm: worn through stressful or high-pressure stretches
- Inner strength and courage: linked to its volcanic origin
- Emotional balance: worn to settle reactivity
- Aromatherapy: the porous beads hold essential oil for hours
Using it as an aromatherapy diffuser
Add one or two drops of essential oil to two or three beads and let it absorb for a minute. Lavender is the usual choice for calm, peppermint for alertness, eucalyptus for clarity. The scent typically lasts several hours and can be refreshed daily. Apply the oil to the beads, not to your skin, and patch-test any new oil first.
How to tell real lava stone
Real lava stone is surprisingly light for its size, noticeably lighter than quartz or agate beads of the same diameter. The surface is matte and irregularly pitted, never glossy or evenly dimpled, and the pores are visibly different on every bead. A drop of water sits on plastic imitations; on real lava stone it is absorbed. Every bracelet ships with a certificate of authenticity.
How to wear it
Worn on the right wrist to stay grounded and connected to action, though either wrist is fine. Tuesday is the traditional day to begin, associated with Mars and with courage and strength. Well suited to meditation, yoga and long working days.
Cleansing and care
Because it is porous, avoid soaking lava stone. Water sits in the cavities and takes a long time to dry. Cleanse with incense, a smudge, or a few hours in sunlight or moonlight. Wipe with a dry soft cloth. Reapply essential oil as the scent fades.
Styling
The matte black finish pairs with leather and earth tones, and stacks well with tiger eye or sulemani hakik.

Frequently asked questions
What is a lava stone bracelet used for?
Lava stone is worn for grounding, calm and emotional steadiness, and is linked to the root chakra. Its porous beads also work as a natural aromatherapy diffuser, holding essential oil for several hours. These are traditional associations rather than proven medical effects.
How do I use a lava stone bracelet with essential oils?
Add one or two drops of essential oil to two or three beads and let it absorb for about a minute. Lavender is common for calm, peppermint for alertness. The scent lasts several hours. Apply oil to the beads rather than the skin, and patch-test new oils.
On which hand should I wear a lava stone bracelet?
The right wrist is traditional, as the right side projects energy outward and lava stone is worn for action and steadiness. Either wrist is acceptable, though. Many wearers choose whichever hand is more comfortable for daily use.
How can I tell if lava stone is real?
Real lava stone is noticeably lighter than quartz or agate beads of the same size, with a matte, irregularly pitted surface that differs on every bead. A drop of water beads up on plastic imitations but is absorbed into real lava stone.
Which is the best day to wear a lava stone bracelet?
Tuesday is the traditional day, associated with Mars and therefore with courage and strength. Saturday is a second common choice for those wearing it mainly for grounding. After the first wearing, it can be worn on any day.
Who should not wear a lava stone bracelet?
Lava stone is generally considered suitable for everyday wear. Children under three should not wear it because of the small-bead choking risk, and anyone with a known sensitivity to a particular essential oil should patch-test before applying it to the beads.
How do I clean a lava stone bracelet?
Avoid soaking it. Lava stone is porous, so water sits in the cavities and takes a long time to dry. Cleanse it with incense, a smudge, or a few hours in sunlight or moonlight, then wipe it with a dry soft cloth.
Is the bracelet certified, and is Cash on Delivery available?
Yes. Every Lava Stone Bracelet ships with a certificate of authenticity confirming the beads are natural volcanic rock. Cash on Delivery is available across India, shipping is free, and orders are dispatched within 24 to 48 hours.
