Which stone is worn for love and relationships?
Firoza, known outside India as turquoise, is the one. It has been worn for harmony and safe travel for around six thousand years, which makes it one of the oldest stones people have deliberately kept on the body. In Vedic tradition it is tied to Jupiter and to Thursday, and it is worn less for romance in the film sense and more for steadiness: keeping communication calm, keeping a partnership from fraying at the edges.
How to wear a firoza bracelet
Thursday is the traditional day to begin, and silver is the traditional metal if you pair it with anything. Left wrist for receiving, right if you want it outward. None of that is a rule you have to follow for the bracelet to be worth wearing.
Why firoza changes colour, and why that is not a fault
This is the question we get most, and the honest answer is chemistry rather than mysticism. Turquoise is a hydrated copper aluminium phosphate. The blue comes from copper. When iron substitutes for aluminium in the structure, the stone shifts towards green. It is also genuinely porous and soft, around 5 to 6 on the Mohs scale, which is softer than almost everything else on this site. It absorbs skin oils, lotion and perfume, and over months that shifts the colour.
You will find pages, and at least one very famous wearer, saying that firoza cracks or greens because it has absorbed negativity. We are not going to tell you that. It greens because of copper and iron, and it cracks because it is soft and something knocked it. Take it off before applying perfume or lotion, keep it out of water, and it will hold its colour far longer.
Real firoza, dyed howlite, and the middle you should know about
Authenticity here has three tiers rather than two, and most sellers only mention two. There is natural untreated turquoise. There is stabilised turquoise, which is resin-impregnated to harden it, a standard and disclosed trade practice. And there is outright imitation, usually dyed howlite or magnesite. Our bracelets ship with a gemological lab certificate confirming natural, untreated stone. The check you can do yourself: the dark veining is matrix, the remnant of the host rock the turquoise formed inside, and genuine matrix is random and never repeats. Moulded and printed imitations show the same pattern across several beads.
